"You will treasure those closest to you the most only when you are about to leave them."
and now it's been clear to me, it felt as though the days of my life here are numbered. tomorrow may just be the 12th January. about 2 months away before my school starts in australia. but like a click of my finger, the day when i am flying to australia may just be tomorrow. waking me up in the early busy morning. after that. i'll be taking a cab to the airport. mum and dad, both, at my sides. during the flight, i will be crying while recollecting the memories i had in singapore these past 9 years...
my Jurong short-period stay with the susicious guardian. (i was still not sure whether they're good or not even til i left them) it was there that pris, eric and me first learnt our english and chinese language. it was those days when the uncle still had to sing to us to sleep. 7 years old were we. i used to cry, with the phone clinged in between my ear and shoulder. man! how i missed mum and dad and everyone else at home that time. it was sad sad sad. homesick! but nth that i could do to end it. not onyl did i cry, mum too. it must be sad for her to leave her children under the care of 2 total strangers and their kids. they might be evil-hearted people before anyone knew it. our stay there was not really good. we found out that the auntie was a selfish woman, who never shared her food with us. that's why we complained to our mothers. well, after barely a year there, we moved to castle green with the luohan and gorilla. at first, it was like wow! wow! wow! she seemed so nice and kind. showering us with gifts, stickers and toys on the first day. but somehow, the years after that became more and more intolerable and miserable each day. she used to scold us for not doing well in our practice papers. she confiscated our toys and money whenever we spoke in bahasa indonesia. she caught me a few times sneaking in her room, just because i grew hopelessly desperate to get my hands on my birthday present. i immediately was in tears when she boomed her anger on me. the impact was so great that i quickly rushed inside my room, with pris and the rest. they were so shocked to see me in that state. who won't? lolx. the pervert (sorry but he did scare me many times) uncle who attempted to sit close to me on the sofa. i caught him a few times flirting or something with me. i was like just 8 that time. oh my gosh! what was he thinking? his gigglings would ring in my head forever. brr for that. oh, they had their good in them too. one night, they crept onto my bed. tickled me in my sides til i got so tired of laughing and screaming. of course, pris and eric were always there to accompany me. through thin and thick times. and not to forget ko david, eric's roommate from china. he was 16 years and that meant twice our age. haha! once, me and pris tried to murder him, for eating our noodles without asking our permssion. we cut these small pieces of playin cards and hid a nail, from the tool, in his noodles. it was a mie goreng. he, of course, was so shocked to discover the extra ingredients in his noodles. the maid the told of the incident to auntie. in the end, even ko david's parents flew to singapore upon hearing the story. our guardians threatened to call the cops (uncle sebastian) into the house. we hid in our room, under our blankets, the whole day. thinking that the police are on their way to arrest us alr. after one unrestful day, not a single cop arrived. how relieved we were! then there's one night, i was awakened by pris sobbing by the window. i got up and cried together with her too. so, we planned to escape castle green together. the next day onwards, we tried to save as much money as possible and packed our clothes in a luggage. however, we never succeed to execute our plan later. know why? because we realized that we had nowhere else to sleep apart from serangoon (where sa-cim stays) and our passports were still with auntie. we had no choice but to endure the days there. as the years went by, more and more people came to live with us. ayrton, poul, michael, tin2, flora, andrew. they really brightened up our lives in the house. not to forget, the maids too. auntie benz, benilda, joy, iris, ria, etc. thank you for all the wonderful times together. you sure made my life enjoyable and fun there, despite the misery. oh and both tin and me managed to keep a pet hamster a secret. it was until 3 months later that he truth was exposed to all. actually, many were suspicious about it already. but none were smart enough to see it. it was pretty obvious. with the stinky smell and the commotion whenever we took the hamster out of its cage to play. tin always swung the little creature like an acrobat. seeing that would send me shrieking with excitement. it's just like dad swinging pinto, the dog, now. lolx. it was hilarious! we both knew that we were doomed to get scolded for hiding the animal. but we tried our best to keep it in the dark. managed to bribe the maids to keep their lips sealed too. what a life i had there! so full of memories. oh! also one morning (before school), the gorilla woke us up so early. she screamed at us just because her mirrors dirty. she demanded one of us to admit for being guilty of it. but since noone really did it, we could only look at her helplessly. however, she didn't believe us so she decided to pick-point pris to clean it up before she go to school. pris, being wronged and maligned, called her mother up. and from then onwards, the relationship between her mother and auntie got worse and worse. hmm. but we do love auntie's chicken feet. and chicken wing. we used to compete eating the most chicken. and ayrton always ended up with sauce smeared around his mouth. auntie would take a photo of him, who was proud to be the winner of the competition. pris and me always hid behind pillars under the HDB block of uncle's mum. then once, auntie and uncle purposely not bothered to look for us and drove away in their convertible. both of us ran like crazy after the car. i ran so hard that my bladder burst from the excitement. lolx. i can still remember the memories so clearly now. i didn't know my childhood here was that interesting. hmm. growing up is not that good. being a child was so much fun than being an adult! just happy to live those carefree days.
