IDP is cool!!! they organised a Great Ocean Road trip today for Melbourne international students who are registered under them for a cheap rate of $20 (light lunch and refreshments given). xin yue, fui han and i signed up for it last week. so i got up at 6.30am today and dressed for the 4 seasons- weather. met xin yue along Lonsdale Street and i was surprised to see so many international students gathering in front of the IDP office. i was still so sleepy then and lazy to go for the trip. then soon, Florence and Ada appeared! wow. more trinity people. that was unexpected.
the bus arrived soon after and it took us long to get up on the coach. you know what they made us do? each and every one of us had to tick our name first from the list before boarding the coach. so we ended up leaving the place at 9am instead of the targeted time of 8.30am.
before we reached our destination, we stopped by many resting areas. many of the names that i've forgotten. but i still remembered that by the time we reached the Twelve Apostles, it was already 4pm plus. the weather was quite bad (no wind at all), so there was a thin layer of mist around the bottom of the "apostles". therefore, the pictures that we took together with 'them' weren't very fantastic either. well, so much for $20! i think overall, we had gotten more than enough already for the trip.
we not only visited Great Ocean Road, we also saw many places that i didn't know existed in Melbourne. i learn more about the suburbs around Melbourne. like Geelong where Tony, my Maths 2 lecturer and tutor and mentor, stays at and probably enjoying his retirement there now. our 'driver', Brendon, told us that Geelong is the second largest city in Melb besides the city itself. we did not make any stop there but i generally get the idea how BIG Geelong is. interesting place to live in, i supposed and pretty laid back too. (= just like Tony! hehe.
the driver brought us to Torquay, Apollo Bay... i bought ice-cream Rum&Raisin at this particular 'Food Court' for $3.50. it melted like crazy since the weather was warm. then, we also rested at many coastal places. so throughout the entire day, what we see is water water water! the ocean! we also saw many furry dogs around. so much more than in the city. i saw this particular Huski dog! SUPER CUTE! i was tailing behind it and its owner and finally managed to take a picture of its face when the owner stopped by for a while to get something from a shop i think. i could see that wherever the dog went, everyone would turn their heads around to admire it. (= but i pity the dog cause the weather's hot and it has got such a thick fur over it.
overall, it's a good trip. a great one actually. i got to relax and ease my stressed and tired mind away from school. i felt like the ocean had taken my worries and fears away. i felt so much lighter now. so i didn't regret going for this trip afterall, even though i missed AGM last night that my church organised. the best part of the trip was the camwhoring! =D i am going to post the pictures up tomorrow i think (if i'm not going for that mumba festival). i hope Xin Yue, Fui Han, Florence and Ada did too on their facebook! hehe.
i can't wait for the next time i will be going for any road trip again~
(although i got car-sick halfway the journey today)
