ADELAIDE 3

the sad thing was it drizzled while i rushed to the University. also, University of Adelaide is a big campus. the email specifically states that it will be at Medical South building. i tried looking for it around and was kinda worried about it because it was already 11.05am and i had to be there at least by 11.10am. so after few minutes of searching, i decided to ask someone in the campus for direction. but everywhere i see, people seemed so busy. the Asian ones were busy with their handphones. the Caucasians seemed so hostile to Asians. i looked at my watch. that's it. not much time left. either go or waste the entire whole trip fee. so i dared myself and finally managed to ask 2 Caucasian guys for direction. man. they're so adorable! hehe. and very helpful. i feel so thankful to God for sending me so many helpful people while i was in Adelaide. from the bottom of my heart. i thank God that because of him i was not at all alone there.
almost immediately after i sat down in the waiting lounge, i was called for the interviewer. i don't want to exaggerate what actually happened on that day because i was too carried away by my mood here in this blog. so i'll try to write as real as possible. here goes...
interviewer: take a sit.
me: thank you.
interviewer and i exchanged glances. i wondered why she did not talk yet.
interviewer: would you like to take a cup of water?
me: yes please. thank you. (pouring mysely the water and she looked)
interviewer: alright. basically today i would just like to ask you questions mainly about yourself.
me: okay.
interviewer: so what makes you want to study dentistry?
(this is the question that i gave a screwed up answer)
me: actually..i don't want to take up dentistry. i want medicine instead. but because of my PQA test results, it is said that i am not qualified for medicine. my parents also want me to study dentistry because they said that a girl shouldn't study til a high degree and a long time. but i have a great desire to do medicine in future. so because of this, i just leave everything to fate (actually i wanted to say God). if my results are high enough for me to enter into medicine course, then i will. but if it's too low, then i'll take up dentistry.
(so dumb, right? many people said that i shouldn't be too frank with them. but at least i'm being honest.)
interviewer: in that case, why do you want to study medicine?
me: oh. because my ambition is to be a peadiatrician
interviewer: so what interests you to University of Adelaide?
me: err...actually i heard about it from our school advisors that Uni of Ade isvery good in their sciences. it's the third highest in australia, right? that's why i applied into here.
interviewer: have you visited our website? which course attracts you?
me: er...actually nope.
interviewer: okay. what do you think a dentist will deal with at work?
me: cleaning people's teeth, surgeries, braces and so on?
(the lady was looking at my hands the whole time i was talking.)
